We step on it, we deforest it and we exploit it, but we can also protect it, treasure it and restore it.

The soil is where plants find nutrients to make the forest grow. In the Amazon, soil microorganisms rapidly prepare nutrients for the plants roots thanks to the high humidity and temperature. 

Therefore, the Amazon fertility is to be found in its trees, which fertilize the soil enough to maintain the forest glowing. Instead, deforestation of the Amazon erases the forest, that is the natural source which fertilizes the foil. The often intensive agriculture takes the place of the Amazon and it rapidly exhausts the nutrients of the soil, requiring supplementation with chemicals harming people and the environment. 

World Soil Day promotes healthy soil for the health of the environment, people and also the Amazon rainforest.
